The opening of Pizzeria Amoroma has required a lot of work and energy.  Who knew it would get easier, then harder.
Chairs

I had to unwrap a good one hundred chairs.

And then move them from the back of the restaurant (same location pictured twice from opposing vantages.)
Tables

I managed to line up the front of the house alright.  I later had a serving shift where I took more tables than I ever had before!  Yay for progress.

Front Dining Room

A small photo, but an important one.  The moleskin, wine key, crumber and pens are my arsenal.

The Setup

And completely unrelated, apparently there is a shop in San Francisco specializing in party clean up.

Russ Cleaners

It is much easier when there is a photo or two to compliment a posting.

Two months fourteen days.

Most people seem to steal energy away from the efforts of the day to day.  It is rare when someone gives energy.  There is that uber rare sometimes where the person gives so much, you can only wonder how you do without them on a regular basis.  Here is to those people, those rare gems in a life that provide enough mental and emotional sustenance to carry every dream of the heart up, and back to the mountain to once again fend against the plight that can occasionally call itself life.  This is to those out there who cheer to life and turn the mundane into magic.

It has been a lazy few weeks, but there has been a lot happening.  Amoroma, an Italian restaurant in Moraga (my hometown!) has taken me in to train as both busser and server in preparation for their new restaurant.  A long story cut very short, their old bussers sucked, so everybody loves me.  I have been scheduled over people, had people called off to work, and I have been tipped relatively generously compared to the others I have worked with; cool :D .  Tomorrow we start server training for Pizzeria Amoroma, a step forward I didn’t think I would actually be given a chance to take.  With this experience and a year in Italy, there may even be a chance to work over the summer in Europe rather than returning home as my student Visa allows full time work over the summer.  Quite the idea.  Amoroma is wonderful.  The people are horribly friendly, fun and all hate each other with a loving passion.  Our boss Michele is an ex-anarchist from post Mussolini Rome who tells stories, jokes about transexual women (as far as I could tell, he told a long hard to interpret joke, and the punch line was finding out it was a guy…) and is just a great guy to have above you.  Not to even mention they all speak fluent Italian.

Aside from work, nothing keeps someone busy like a new computer.  I think the headache of transferring 4000 disorganized songs from several folders, dozens of sub folders and hundreds of sub sub folders into one pile has overcome me.  I sit here having slept through to noon in bed on the shiny new Macbook hoping they will keep transferring and organize as they go.  They won’t.  We will see how much effort I want to put into this later.

T-Minus 3 months 14 days until I wake up on a red eye to a sunrise over Switzerland and a new life.  Meraviglioso!

Busted out the phone camera *WAAPOW!*

First to Tilden to the Sticky Monkey Flowers.

Then on to Animal Grossology at the Lawrence.  Some wicked stuff.

Oh Yeah! Octopus

Making ping pong ball ramps is cool.

An awesome large version of the metal pin-imprint executive toys.  Even with my glasses on I couldn’t see a thing.

My Face!

Finally to a tree with a dozen of caterpillars.

Good evening, California.

I met Mike at The Lawrence Hall of Science where he works scattered days and nights to support himself.  Fourty five minutes short of the new day I approached him washing the front door window and introduced myself.  He has been there for twenty six years and it goes without saying that I may have encountered him in the elusive past without thinking twice.  Mike worked here of all places because since growing up in San Francisco he has been going there and to other similar nests of science.  For anyone not familiar with the area, The Lawrence is a science goldmine for anyone of any age (or imagination) where fun is required of its science exploring subjects.  It’s the kind of scientific play that takes you in as you are and returns you the kid genius of your topic.  I was there for the water exhibit a month ago, and found out that my water usage is out of control.  I also temporarily forgot the magic of the bubble and while playing with hydrolics systems proved that I in fact have the strength to lift cars.  In any case, I talked briefly to Mike about the new exhibits I had seen at the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco and gave him a recommendation I hope he follows through on.  He thanked me and I let him continue his work.  Outside we continued to the whale.  The whale, which I stole a photograph of to show in all of its glory, is a hollow giant on a plaza overlooking the bay and San Francisco.  You just have to be here.

I will soon be posting a revisit to epic conquests of territory at Stanford last Saturday with Sarah and Toby.  Oh, it was good!  Everything, keep it coming.

I don’t think I can explain it, even as it comes.

Perfect.  Spring, dually comprised of the golden glósóli and the passing before entrance into what has been confirmed as perfect.  The day needs to hurry up and grow out that sunny beard, summer ho!

As I sat today in sunshine reviewing Italian flashcards out in the back yard, three geese flew overhead.  I assumed they flew north after stopping by.  But at once after their impression had worn, I sat feeling newly emblazoned with the heat of Springs’ mid afternoon radiance.  As April comes into view the days begin to dictate more of my time, revealing this tremendous need to monitor and pursue the months I have left to their most effective ends.

OH WELL it is worth it.  I campi verdi interminabile sono perfetto per quelli giorni tranquilli.

A dopo,

Ciao.

I seem to want to do everything at once.  Be everywhere, see everything, do anything.  I’m on a little temporary chain.

Some things just need a little perspective, and mine right now is at a slight disadvantage.  Oh well, you know it will improve.

I am headed for that far shore.  I’ll see you there.
